The Party's Over

Always a bridesmaid, never the bride--sigh.

The 2011 EPIC Awards Conference took place this weekend. As you may know, Next Time I'm Gonna Dance finaled for an EPIC e-Book award. Unfortunately, I didn't win the prize this year. It was my third finaling, and I was hoping third time would be a charm. But, as you can see from the photo of my mantle, I'm optimistic about next year. (and, no, my mantle doesn't sag--it's the angle of the photo)

I am pleased that Trisha FitzGerald won the Ariana Award for cover art for Next Time I'm Gonna Dance. The award is well-deserved. Just look at that cover!

My congratulations to all the winners. For the others who finaled and didn't win (I can't use the word 'losers'; there is honor in finaling)--see you at the dance next year?

Congrats for finaling, that in of itself is fabulous. And, also, pass on our congrats to Trisha. That cover is truly memorable! As is the story. \

Thanks, guys. I'm trying hard not to become the Susan Lucci of EPICon. :) So, on to next year. And, yes, Trisha's cover art is spectacular. A well-deserved award for her.

LINDA--congratulations on being a finalist! Me, too....always a bridesmaid. I enter very few contests and may not enter anymore. My books have been nominated by review sites several times, and I end up as a "finalist" or "Honorable Mention," and really...I'm happy. I learned from playing golf for local trophies and tournaments that if I won, I was thrilled. If I didn't, I was still happy.
I won't let the win or loss of a contest rule my life, and I can see you feel the same way. Just think of all the others who are in the same boat as you, and oh, so many others who never made it to the finals!
You are lucky, indeed. And I agree--the cover for Next Time I'm Going to Dance is outstanding.

It was a great achievement to be in the final, Linda! No wonder that gorgeous cover art got so far.

I've awarded you a Stylish Blogger award, Linda and if you wish to accept, you can collect it at:http://romygemmell.blogspot.com/

I was a judge for the EPIC contest, and believe me, there were some very good books entered! Just being picked as a finalist is a real accolade!
And you are too funny, with that cardboard "place-holder" waiting to be replaced with the award! LOL.

I was a judge, too, in a different category, of course. And, yes, there were some amazing books. Probably why there were seven finalist in the Mainstream category (and many more in a few others). Who could choose?

Yep, got my spot all reserved.
